MPs start voting for deputy speakers of the parliament


The voting for the deputy speakers of the newly inaugurated Somali federal parliament has kick started in Mogadishu, the east African war-recovering capital.

The country’s lawmakers are expected today the first and second deputy speakers of the lower house of the parliament, just a day after re-electing Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari.

The candidates competing for the 1st seat include MP Farah Abdulkadir and former women’s affairs and human rights minister, current lawmaker Khadija Mohamed Dirie.
