A member of Puntland parliament Farah Abdikadir Botan has passed away on Sunday in a hospital in Kenya, as a result of wounds sustained in a car bomb attack in Galkayo town earlier this month.
MP Botan was critically wounded in a bomb fitted into his vehicle which exploded outside a hotel in the divided city of Galkayo, the regional capital of Mudug province 8th March, 2017.
He died today at the hospital in Nairobi, where he has been receiving medical treatment over the past few weeks, according to his colleagues at Puntland parliament who spoke to Radio Shabelle by phone.
Members of Somalia’s Federal Parliament in Mogadishu have offered heartfelt condolences to Puntland state of Somalia on the passing of lawmaker Farah Abdikadir Botan.
No one has claimed the responsibility for the attack so far, but suspicion fell on Al-Shabab militants, who have carried out similar bomb and gun attacks against the Puntland officials in the past months.
