Mogadishu 15,Nov.07 ( Sh.M.Network)-Burundi
is still waiting for the financial contribution promised by Britain
to be made available before sending two battalions to Somalia, the
spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans, Lieutenant
Colonel Adolphe Manirakiza, said Thursday.
He also indicated the departure of the 1,800 Rwandan forces was
imminent, as Britain will soon send the money needed to pay salaries
to the soldiers for the fir s t three months.
Lieutenant-Colonel
Manirakiza further affirmed that preparations for the deployment
of the two battalions had been completed, stressing that the Burundi's
army benefited from the United States and France's technical and
logistic assistance.
He
also indicated the French government will be responsible for the
transportation of the Burundian forces to Somalia.
Burundian
forces are to be deployed in Somalia as part of an African Union
(AU) peacekeeping mission.
